Tampines Grind Out Victory Over Balestier

Tampines Rovers bounced back from their defeat to Ceres Negros FC in the AFC Cup with a narrow 1-0 victory over Balestier Khalsa at the Toa Payoh Stadium on Saturday night.

Ivan Dzoni’s second goal of the season was enough to help the Stags record their second successive win in the Great Eastern-Hyundai S.League and go fourth, level on points with Home United and Hougang United.

Balestier Khalsa are determined to halt their two-game winless run in the Great Eastern-Hyundai S.League when they welcome Tampines Rovers to the Toa Payoh Stadium on Saturday night.

The Tigers have yet to register a win in the league this season despite initial excitement from the arrival of Myanmarese attacking trio Kyaw Zayar Win, Nanda Linn Kyaw Chit and Aung Kyaw Naing, which promised to add an extra bite to the team’s attacking threat.


Geylang United FC 2-0 Balestier Khalsa FC

Geylang International got their first win of the 2017 Great Eastern-Hyundai S.League season after overcoming Balestier Khalsa 2-0 at the Bedok Stadium on Saturday night.

Al-Qaasimy Rahman and Shawal Anuar scored in each half to help the Eagles bounce back from Monday night’s 2-0 loss to Hougang United. But things could have been different if Balestier had converted their early opportunities.
