Hougang United’s quest to finish third in the Great Eastern-Yeo’s S.League took a huge blow as they were held to a 1-1 home draw by second-from-bottom Balestier Khalsa at the Hougang Stadium on Saturday night.

The Cheetahs led through an early Stipe Plazibat strike, but the hosts paid the price for not finishing off their chances as they were eventually pegged back by Syafiq Zainal’s goal midway through the second half.

Syafiq's Spectacular Late Strike Helps Tigers Rescue A Point

A spectacular strike from substitute Syafiq Zainal three minutes from time helped Balestier Khalsa come from behind to snatch an unlikely 1-1 draw with Warriors FC at Toa Payoh Stadium on Thursday night.

The visitors looked on course to claim all three points after Jonathan Behe had given them the lead, but Syafiq, who had came on to play on the wing before moving upfront to replace the injured Miroslav Kristic, slammed home his first goal of the season to equalise for the hosts.
