Balestier Khalsa to open doors for free against Tampines Rovers

SINGAPORE, 14 FEBRUARY 2012 – Balestier Khalsa Football Club have graciously decided to waive the entrance fee for their Great Eastern-YEO’S S.League LIVE match at Jalan Besar Stadium on Thursday, 16 February 2012 against defending champions Tampines Rovers F.

The club made the decision in an effort to encourage Singaporeans to support the S.League, and we urge fans to come down to the stadium in full force and watch the likes of Paul Cunningham, Goran Subara and Jaslee Hatta take on the evergreen Aleksandar Duric and the exciting foreign duo of Davor Piskor and Gligor Gligorov.

Great Eastern continues S.League sponsorship for 2012 and 2013

SINGAPORE, 11 JANUARY 2012 – Great Eastern today announced that it will extend its Co-Title Sponsorship of the S.League for a further two years, from 2012 to 2013, valued at a total of S$1 million.

With this renewal, the S.League is assured of providing local football a platform where young, talented and experienced footballers can showcase their skills as well as giving Singaporeans the opportunity to enjoy the Beautiful Game. With a new tournament format and a total of 14 teams competing for top honors this season, the S.League will certainly prove to be an exciting affair for both fans and players.

Clubs learn of first opponents at lavish launch

At a lavish function staged at LiveWire Marina Bay Sands, the 2012 Great Eastern-YEO’S S.League season was launched with the participation of the chairmen and player representatives of the 13 competing clubs, giving the much-touted “Version 2.0” a showman’s touch.

The stylish presentation was further bolstered by an array of dignitaries, including Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, and newly-appointed S.League Chief Executive Officer Lim Chin.

The event doubled as a recognition of the efforts of the Tote Board in assisting the S.League through its subsidiary Singapore Pools, with the award of the IOC Trophy by the Singapore National Olympic Committee to the Tote Board “in view of its holistic contribution to sport and the community”, according to Singapore National Olympic Council Secretary General Chris Chan.
